The children have been given the tools to understand what an “audience” is and the rules for being an audience are reinforced in an informational rather than punitive manner.
When children say “I can’t see” it is because they can’t see. Their eyesight is still developing. Teachers should show pictures longer and help the child find a place where they are able to see.
When a child speaks out about a book that is being read like the child does in this video, LET IT HAPPEN! It shows that the child is engaged and involved. Kids can’t wait and so they must say what they’re thinking. To quiet the child is to squelch his sense of wonder and his involvement in the story.
