Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences from 1983 has rattled the education world.

We no longer look at IQ as a single factor, but we recognize the existence of independent intelligences, that each can be improved on.

Gardner suggests the following intelligences:

Gardner’s theory did to education, what Albert Einstein did to physics, it opened a whole new dimension.

The concept has in it the following breakout and empowering consequences:

  1. Recognizing and valuing intelligences that were neglected or underappreciated and did not receive the right attention, or enabled people to rise to their potential.
  2. Realizing that everybody is unique, different and special and recognizing that everyone  everyone is valuable and has a potential for growth.
  3. Understanding that everyone learns differently and needs different examples, or approach to learning.
  4. That learning happens in different ways and forms.
  5. That not all intelligences are measurable or can be tested in old fashion written test way.
